Ok, so here are some photos from my trip to Bermuda. I used a Holga 120N with flash as needed. This simple, plastic camera is from China and has very limited controls. I brought it on vacation so that I could be free from worrying about protecting my usual cameras. Here is what we first saw as our ship entered the cut by the town of St. George.
This island is gorgeous and the water is so blue. Not what I’m used to with Pittsburgh’s three rivers! While there, I found that I love snorkeling! I slipped my Holga into a Ziploc bag and found some beautiful fish in Tobacco Bay. Focus was a bit of a challenge through my clunky goggles and adjusting the focus ring through the Ziploc bag, but here’s a lucky shot.
There was only one downpour of rain while we were there and the skies were overcast, a photographer’s delight! Here are the dockyards through the window of a ferry.
Here’s a Gombey dancer. The Gombeys perform a native dance for tourists from the cruise ship docked at St. George.
Here is an unfinished church. During its construction in the 1870s, the church suffered sever weather damage from a storm and the congregation split after dissention about whether to continue building the church.
I love Bermuda and would recommend it for those looking for a simple and remote island with British culture.
Here are two treasures from my vacation in Bermuda: Petals eau de toilette by Lili Bermuda, a sweet perfume that just debuted at the end of June; and rum cake in the Rum Swizzle flavor, a popular Bermudian drink made of dark rum and fruit juices.More photos of the actual vacation to come…I took a Holga 120N for those who are familiar and if you are, you know that the camera’s limited controls mean I will, no doubt, be surprised at how they turn out.I took the camera because 1) it’s cheap and I wouldn’t feel bad if I lost or broke it and 2) because of its capacity for 120 film and endearing aesthetic quality!
It was a pleasure to photograph Jen and Sean last weekend.Jen is due in July and the baby’s gender will be a surprise! For this photo shoot, we started at Riverview Park on Pittsburgh’s North Side and then headed downtown for some riverside photos with the Allegheny River as our backdrop. After that, we headed to the couple’s backyard garden for some more intimate belly shots. They are a beautiful couple and the baby on the way will have wonderful parents.
Here’s a favorite shot with some lens flare over Jen’s belly.

Natalie and Chuck are getting married in August and the excitement about their upcoming wedding is plain to see. This lovely couple was so easy to photograph. They chose North Park as the location for their photo shoot and it offered plenty of great scenery especially with the early morning lighting. And thank God for good weather! We had scheduled another early morning session that was rained out, so this was “take two.” Here are some of my favorites:
