During this time, she helps with narrowing down selections and taking detailed retouching notes so that you can have the best possible images. You’ll see a slideshow of highlights as well as mock-ups of artwork featuring your images.

The studio has sample albums, keepsakes and wall art so that you can see all of the possibilities. Our heirloom albums and keepsake linen photo boxes are handcrafted and a wonderful way for you to turn through the pages of your story over and over again. Our custom framing features a selection of mouldings and museum-quality glass. We love framed prints because you can enjoy seeing your artwork everyday!

Our Process

In Eight Simple Steps

1: Discovery Call or Text

We’ll take 10-minutes to get to learn about what you’re envisioning as well as answer any questions you might have.

Please fill out my contact form and I’ll be in touch soon.

2: Book Your Session

When you decide you’re ready to get started, sign the booking proposal to reserve your session.

You can pay your session fee online or mail a check

3: Getting to Know You

Fill out our questionnaire to plan your session.

We’ll use this info to prepare for your photoshoot.

4: Welcome Packet Mailed

We’ll mail a welcome packet to your home.

So you’ll have everything you need to know for your session.

5: Photoshoot Day

Plan to arrive to the studio or the designated location 10 minutes prior to your session.

We’ll work together to create something beautiful.

6: Photo Reveal

We’ll project a highlights reel on the big screen and share mock-ups or artwork with your images.

Then, you’ll get to choose the images we retouch for your session.

7: Artwork Delivered

Retouched selections are emailed in a downloadable gallery within two weeks from your photo reveal.

Artwork ordered during your photo reveal is ready for pick-up within 4 weeks.

8: Enjoy Your Artwork

Seeing your artwork on display is the best way to enjoy your photos every day.

We incentivize this by including an additional retouched digital file for every $50 spent.

Newborn Session Pricing

Pittsburgh Newborn Sessions are best scheduled during your second trimester. This will allow enough time for us to learn about what you’re envisioning and plan your session. Once your session is booked, we send out a welcome packet with all of the information you’ll want to know going into your session. We can also accommodate sessions for babies who are already born, but scheduling early is recommended.

Our 2-hour sessions take place in our studio or in the comfort of your own home and Kate will plan the session based on your preferences. Generally, we’ll start with capturing the family in a relaxed setting, on the bed or couch, siblings included and snuggles encouraged! Then we’ll move into portraits by the window. Outfit changes are welcomed, but we suggest limiting to one or two looks as babies tend to get fussy when being changed. We’ll take breaks for feeding and changing your baby as needed. Then, we’ll focus on individual portraits of your sweet baby.

The Artwork

Following your session, Kate will put together a photo reveal and you’re invited to come to the studio to see your photos projected on the big screen. Kate will prepare mock-ups of artwork featuring your images. Our custom framing and heirloom albums are handcrafted and unsurpassed in quality.

Our heirloom albums feature your images beautifully and best of all, you can go back and turn through the pages of your story over and over again.

Kate Miller is an Award Winning Pittsburgh Newborn Photographer who has been photographing babies and families in Pittsburgh for 16 years and has had her own studio in Cranberry for two years. During her free time, she enjoys trying new recipes, walking her Sheepadoodle, and going on adventures with her family.

FAQs

How do I prepare for my newborn session?

Choose your wardrobe and have it ready to go the night before your session. Moisturize your skin and apply chapstick before going to bed (parents and babies too!). Set an alarm for the morning to allow enough time for your regular morning routine (coffee, breakfast, getting-ready). Feed your baby as needed and especially right before the start of your session.

What should I wear?

If you would like assistance with planning your wardrobe, Kate is happy to help. Please just let her know.

Do you offer hair and makeup?

Yes! You can add on hair and makeup to your session and we’ll coordinate with a team of stylists to meet you at the studio.

What if my baby is fussy during the session?

Don’t fret. We’ll take note and try different strategies to get your baby back to that happy place.

What if my baby’s skin is irritated?

No worries about baby acne, blotchy or flaky skin. A baby’s skin changes from day to day and can be retouched so that you can remember your baby’s skin without the temporary blemishes.

Do you offer hair and makeup?

Yes! You can add on hair and makeup to your session and we’ll coordinate with a team of stylists to meet you at the studio.

What can be done to make me look less sleep-deprived?

Kate pays close attention to creating flattering lighting and brightens eyes and reduces dark circles as a part of her retouching.

How do I get more digital files?

Any purchase of tangible artwork (prints, albums and wall art) comes with a retouched digital file for each $50 spent. All retouched files are hand-retouched and sized to make 8×10 prints or smaller.

And there is an amazing program in our area that can help empower you through the journey: Connected Nest It’s a community support for those on the journey to, through and beyond parenthood with programs like Facing Fertility, Empowering Moms, and Equipping Parents. I know I benefited from having other moms in my life to relate with and go to when I felt unsure and concerned. The Connected Nest has local groups that meet, connecting moms and building much-needed community.

Another program I highly recommend, is Nurture Program This non-profit provides the Nurture Program to moms following the birth of their baby to connect them with the information and resources they need – exactly when they need it through private, one-on-one text conversations between mentors and moms.
