It’s been a beautiful summer for weddings and this recent wedding had one of the most beautiful sunsets that I just couldn’t wait to share. This bride and groom mentioned during their consultation that they really love sunsets, so I was hoping for a good one and it was one of the highlights of my summer! A moment like this isn’t a guarantee with a busy wedding schedule, it’s hard for brides and grooms to find a chance to sneak away during their reception, but boy am I glad they did! Their wedding took place at The Atrium in Butler, Pa., and there is a lake at the back of the property that reflected the colorful skies in all their glory!
As were were headed out of the venue, the groom grabbed a cup of coffee to enjoy on the way. He told me that the coffee shop where he has become quite a regular brought their fantastic brew to his reception as a gift to one of their favorite patrons. They even provided their cups and saucers! The whole day was filled with fun and whimsy like this, so we decided to play it up and re-create the American Gothic painting of the farmer with the pitch fork and his wife. Though, it’s supposed to be serious and sullen. I loved this version where they’re struggling to hold back the smiles. How could they not?
This was just a span of about 10 minutes, but it is just bursting with love and vibrant color. The brides wildflower bouquet really compliments the sunset sky.
These two were so sweet with each other all day and it was a joy to photograph their wedding. I am looking forward to sharing more beautiful moments from weddings this past summer and into the fall! If you’re planning a wedding and love sunsets too, I’d love to hear from you!
