I’m excited to be partnering with Soergel Orchards for a Wexford family photography opportunity during their Fall Festival.  Ah, fall—pumpkin spice lattes and family portraits!  And for the first time ever, on Friday, October 25th, I’ll be offering fine art portraits on the hill by the apple orchard.  Can it get any better than this?

Reserve a 10-minute portrait session between 4:30 and 6:30 p.m. by pre-purchasing a 5×7 fine art print, mounted and matted for an 8×10 frame * (a $75 value).  I’ll pick the best image to retouch and print and will mail it to you within two weeks.  You can also opt to have a proofing gallery emailed to you. Additional prints and products are available for purchase including holiday cards, linen keepsake boxes with fine art prints, and wall art. *frame not included

The Wexford Family Photography Experience

During your session, I’ll arrange your family seated on adjustable stools so that all faces are balanced and captured pleasingly.  If the leaves have turned to brown or have fallen off of the trees, I will photoshop in background images from the orchard that I captured earlier this month.

Making Photoshoots Fun

One of the tricky parts about family portraits is that they can be boring for kids. And if you think about it, there are a lot of demands on the kids: sit up straight, smile, stay still, look at the camera.  I get it. And with just a 10-minute session, that’s added pressure.  But no need to fear!  I have a lot of experience photographing families and I like to keep it fun.

Based on your child’s age, I may sing with a finger puppet, tell family-friendly jokes, and give each child a chance to be the center of attention.  I’m not fazed by the chaos that naturally comes with a family portrait with young children.  I keep it positive and most kids (and adults) can’t resist smiling at my antics at least a little bit.

We may even have time for some different groupings: just the kids, just the parents, individual portraits.

Don’t Wait – Book Your Wexford Family Photography Now!

Ok, so if all of this sounds good to you, the next thing you need to do is book your session.  Sessions are limited – one day only!  You can do that here: Soergel Orchard Fine Art Portraits

After booking your session, you’ll want to plan your family’s wardrobe.  With late October weather being unpredictable, you’ll want to work in some layers, especially for little ones who can shut down when they are cold.  Sweaters with shirts layered underneath, heavy pants, like corduroy, or thick tights for girls, with boots.  You’ll only need to be outside for as long as it takes to walk from the parking lot up the hill and your 10-minute session.  Having gloves, scarves and hats for the walk up the hill is not a bad idea.

And for the color palate, I’m recommending muted fall tones, like mustard, olive, and burgundy; also muted shades of blue and khaki are a nice compliment to the green background with the warm backlighting as the sun sets.

It’s been a joy for me to photograph lots of Wexford families. And I’ve loved taking my kids to Soergel Orchards since before they could walk, so I’m thrilled to combine some of my very favorite things.  I also schedule full sessions in my Cranberry Photo Studio as well as on-location sessions all throughout the Greater Pittsburgh area.

I love getting up for sunrise or staying out for sunset and creating beautiful portraits for families!  So if you miss this opportunity, please keep me in mind for your next portrait needs.  My fall season books up fast and families start scheduling their fall portraits in early summer.  If you’d like to get on my schedule for a studio session this winter, I’d love to hear from you.  Please give me a call at 412-427-8371 or email me here.
