Rain on your wedding day is a bummer, but the bride and groom from this recent wedding didn’t let it ruin their day. On the contrary, they overcame it and enjoyed their day anyway. From the ceremony through the creative portraits, we all carried on in the rain. And I really think that highlighted the importance of their day.
Clear Guest Umbrellas Are A Great Idea
The family purchased clear umbrellas for the guests too—what a great way to not visually distract from the bride and groom. I also come with a handful of clear umbrellas. For the bride and groom to share an umbrella, I find the regular size umbrellas works better than bubble umbrellas. You can see how the bride is adjusting the umbrella position after the exchange of the rings!
Creative Portraits
After the ceremony, we had lots of options for their creative portraits. Some took place out in the open and we used the regular umbrella so that they both fit under it nicely. Others took place in a row of evergreen trees that provided some shelter from most of the rain drops. And the porch and vintage truck were wonderful places to take cover and create some beautiful portraits!
This wedding wasn’t able to have the bonfire or fireworks that were planned, but the bride and groom will have memories of standing together in the rain and saying ‘yes’ to their life ahead as husband and wife.
These days, I spend most of my time photographing babies, families, high school seniors, headshots, and small business, but I still accept a limited number of weddings each year, because I really enjoy capturing a wedding day.
