Fresh Photos and Reflections on the Past Year
Every winter, I take time to update my photography portfolio and I just love the process of going through photos from the past year, choosing favorites, and replacing older images. I feel thankful for the opportunities I’ve had to capture meaningful moments for families. And I feel proud of my work and satisfaction in seeing it all come together. It’s not too different from spring cleaning, in that it can be overwhelming at the start, but is so rewarding in the end. And so, I’m happy to share it with you. While I know that you’re already on my site because you are reading this, I want to point out these images that make up the slideshow on my home page:
Because I’m a visual person, I like to make 4×6 prints of all of the images that I’m considering and lay them out on the floor so that I can easily move them around. First, I separate the images by type: newborn & maternity, children & family, senior sessions, engagements & weddings. And then I decide which images I will keep and which ones I will replace. As excited as I am to add new images, I have to admit, I struggle to remove the older images. I get attached and have to remind myself that this is just part of the process. Actually, here’s last year’s slideshow from the home page. It just makes me feel better leaving it here:
To celebrate this portfolio refresh, I’m doing a 2021 Giveaway for a Full-Service Session complete with a 10-page heirloom album or a $400 product credit! This is for everyone (past clients and anyone who wants to become a client) for any type of session* (maternity, newborn, children, family, senior, engagements). There’s no time like the present to update your photos, so head over to Captivating Imagery’s Facebook page (@CaptivatingImagery) or Instagram account (@captivating_imagery) to participate in the giveaway! Ends 3/31.
