Little B’s First Birthday
I’m going to get a bit more personal with this post because we celebrated a very special occasion this past weekend. My Little B turned one and we had our family over for his first birthday party and smash cake. It was so much fun and my husband and I are very touched by our loving family who drove many miles to be a part of it.
We had a circus-themed party because I know it won’t be long before he’ll get to choose his own party theme, so I made the most of this creative freedom and dressed him as a ringmaster complete with a top hat! And my mom and I had so much fun finding ways to decorate the house. Thank you, Mom, for all of your help last week.
And my very messy little guy was surprisingly cautious with his cake smash. We had to help him dig in, but he eventually got the hang of it. And I can’t believe he kept his hat on as long as he did!
After the cake smash, we had spicy chili and corn dogs. And there were lots of sweets to be had too: caramel and candied apples, cotton candy and cupcakes – we waited until Little B was one before giving him sugar, so now all of the grandparents are eager to give him sweets.
He actually enjoyed unwrapping his presents too. And we looped an hour-long video of highlights from his first year on the TV in our living room for some extra entertainment. I was never really into video until Little B came along and now I need to clear off the hard drive on my laptop, because I am running very low on space. But it’s worth it because the first year goes by so quickly.
I just want to send out a huge THANK YOU our nearest and dearest. Our Little B is so blessed to have you all in his life.
I wish we had photos of G-Mom and G-Dad who arrived just before the cake smash after a very long drive up from their vacation in Myrtle Beach. We really appreciate the major effort you made in getting to Pittsburgh to celebrate with us. Maybe we can do some stand-in portraits the next time we get together?
Ahhhhh, what a wonderful day! B is a very lucky little boy, your a great Mom Kate! All those special touches you did to make he’s first birthday a day to remember.
