Bermuda

Ok, so here are some photos from my trip to Bermuda.  I used a Holga 120N with flash as needed.  This simple, plastic camera is from China and has very limited controls.  I brought it on vacation so that I could be free from worrying about protecting my usual cameras.  Here is what we first saw as our ship entered the cut by the town of St. George.

This island is gorgeous and the water is so blue.  Not what I’m used to with Pittsburgh’s three rivers!  While there, I found that I love snorkeling!  I slipped my Holga into a Ziploc bag and found some beautiful fish in Tobacco Bay.  Focus was a bit of a challenge through my clunky goggles and adjusting the focus ring through the Ziploc bag, but here’s a lucky shot.

There was only one downpour of rain while we were there and the skies were overcast, a photographer’s delight!  Here are the dockyards through the window of a ferry.

Here’s a Gombey dancer.  The Gombeys perform a native dance for tourists from the cruise ship docked at St. George.

Here is an unfinished church.  During its construction in the 1870s, the church suffered sever weather damage from a storm and the congregation split after dissention about whether to continue building the church.

I love Bermuda and would recommend it for those looking for a simple and remote island with British culture.
